I truly like the product but certainly don't love it enough to pay this much. Even taking inflation and the current economy into consideration, this is way too much for my wallet. I recently gave my Sports Walkman to my brother, thinking it could easily be replaced. Was I ever shocked to see that it was going to cost me over $275 for an item I originally paid around $50 for.
i owned one of these walkmans in the mid 90's its a great player auto reverse stations on the radio come in crystal clear great and easy features to use
There is no window to view which way the tape is moving inside the walkman. I was disappointed in the location of the battery replacement box, which is located inside. Aside from all these complaints it seems to be working just fine. This would be helpful when fast forwarding to know which direction it's running. It took some effort to remove the lid in order to insert batteries. Also there is no battery light to determine when the batteries are dying.
if you thought your other sony cassette walkman was sleeker, that model was probably not obsessed with being water-resistant like this one;I attach a camping strap with quick-release buckle,so it fits like a necklace, and that keeps it in place fine for the workplace -- strap sold separately even though this model appears strap-enabled. the groove mode is a mega-bass mode for higher volumes-- its bass sounds too muffled at normal volumes --and while the groove`bass sounds fine at very high volumethe groove`treble then sounds too distorted.
speaking of volume, the safe way to listen without traffic noiseis to get a noise-canceling headset, for blasting out motor sounds without turning up the volume. the mega-bass (MB) mode is much appreciated and sounds great with the supplied headset -- try them with a tight cap that pushes the speakers into your ears, or click the headband snugly;-- and don't forget to turn off the auto-volume-limiting system.
. the bass-modes button is the largestwhile the nearby band-switch button deserves this distinction:with one button I can scan 4favorite stations (3fm, 1am).
if you thought all spendy cassettes come with dolby noise reduction;this is not the case.
small buttons do not facilitate radio surfing, but I found the way around that is tocrazy-glue some rubberband around the array of buttons,so it's easier for my fingers to quickly find their way.
Sound is good. Ear/Head phones are good. Cassette door is easy to open and load cassette.
